LADYSTEIN HEADS TO THE RECORDING STUDIO!

This past weekend, Ladystein was busy at work on their new album! They were in the studio all weekend till the wee hours of the morning making sure that this will be the most rockingist album ever! Here are some pics of the experience:

Lori isn't sure about the drums.

Alana is ready!

Annie is ready...to eat an apple.

So is Kate.

Hours of music playing later, Annie hones her drumstick twirling skills.

Lori is exhausted!

Alana and Kate in the studio - note the glorious Casiotone in the background.

Even in their down time, Lori and Annie are rock stars.

Alana gets in on the rock star action.

Kate lovingly records her crucial omnichord part.

Lori sings like an angel!

So does Alana!

Kate is obscured by the microphone.

Alana ends the day with some yogurt on a palm tree stirrer. In the studio, you've got to make it work, Tim Gunn style!

WHERE HAS LADYSTEIN BEEN ALL MY LIFE???

Dear Internet community:

We know we have been terribly delinquent on the whole keeping-this-blog-up-to-date front, and you're probably pretty peeved at us right now. Well...we're sorry. We promise that in 2008, we'll keep you informed of our every move, right here on this blog. For realsies!

As for what you've missed since our last blog posting of (eek!) July 13, 2007. Well....here is a recap:

Mid July-September: It was very hot. Very, very hot. So hot that months later, Al Gore would win a Nobel Peace Prize. During this heat wave, Ladystein was on rock sabbatical, spending most of their time eating popsicles and sticking their faces in front of air conditioners to prevent getting "the vapors."

October: It got a little less hot. Ladystein stopped being on sabbatical and started planning their world-renowned Christmas spectacular. Al Gore wins that previously mentioned Nobel.

November: Complete tryptophan-enduced coma.

December: Ladystein delivers 4th annual Christmas Spectacular at Pianos! People of the world rejoice in Christmas merriment!

And now that brings us to 2008. Right now, Ladystein is preparing to record their second album! We're pretty amped about the whole thing and have been practicing and doing vocal exercises like mad! Get ready for this album - it will make 2008 rocktacular!

Oh, and we have a few performances up our sleeves, so check back on that front! You've been briefed!

Annie rediscovers Keanu

Ladies,
'tis been ages since we last spoke. I have been fairing well considering the lack of Ladystein during these summer months.

Do you gals remember when I never had a crush on Keanu Reeves growing up- you all did, while I fell in love with Alex Winter, the other bodacious dude from B & T's Excellent A. WELL, times have changed sisters...while passing by the Brooklyn Dojo where my little 3 year old friend takes karate lessons, we happened upon his karate teacher in full karate gear. I instantly had a crush on him. At first I thought it was the uniform- you know how I'm a sucker for a karate outfit (hence my love for Ralph Machio)- but then I realized, it was the fact that he spoke and looked like Keanu Reeves. Something woke up inside me that day- a love I never knew I had. I immediately played back every Keanu movie I have seen- and it wasn't until I got to Point Break that I realized- I do love Keanu Reeves.

So there- we all have more in common than you thought- maybe I'm not as adopted as you all like to believe- except for the fact that I have different birth parents.
Happy summer vacations!

KATE DAYCATIONS IN DARKEST BROOKLYN!

Darkest Brooklyn.

Last weekend, I decided to go exploring in darkest Brooklyn with my friend, Adam. It was a lovely summer day, so we headed off to Brighton Beach, known to some as MOSCOW BY THE SHORE due to its large Russian population. As soon as we got off the Q train, we were greeted by what I would imagine Russia would look like if it had a boardwalk: fur stores, borscht emporiums, and signs that look like this: New boyfriends?

My wedding day.

We had a lovely $5.95, 4-course lunch consisting of blintzes, "regular" pasta (aka macaroni with onions...?) borscht, salad (aka coleslaw), and "regular" tea. We were both too scared to try the entree labled "Lazy" stuff cabbage for fear we'd end up eating this:
Worst nightmare.

Then it was off to the beach, which was far more pristine than either of us had expected:
You could eat off that sand.

We almost joined in a "Top Gun"-style volleyball tourny, but thought better of it: The Iceman Cometh...

And though we wanted to swim, there were some signs that worried us.....
"Contributed to"???

So it was off to Manhattan beach, which was more of a rowdy fiesta - aka, just my style.
Even the babies have 'tudes.

Though the locals seemed to have some strange customs....
The HELL?!?!?!

Then it was off to the harbor town of Sheepshead Bay. Where things got a little glamourous:
My scarf, it was was apricot...

Though sadly, the local KofC didn't seem open and/or stocked in what we needed: pina coladas... My first love? Love on the rocks.

At this point, sun-blind and parched, our judgment got a bit blurred, and we weren't sure what was or wasn't a swan.
SWANS.
NOT A SWAN.

What we did discover is that we need to move there.
KATE WILKINSON: AT HOME AT THE VIKING

And with that, we headed home, full of borscht and beautiful memories....

Sisters stein separate for summer!

Ah! Alliteration! Well this is a sad post indeed. The ladies Stein are going their separate ways for the summer (aka until October), so Ladystein will be on a rock sabbatical until then. In the meantime, while we look out our windows wistfully thinking of our missing bandmates / sisters, we will be posting blogs about our summer adventures so stay tuned...there might be some of this:
Hopefully, not a lot of this:

And almost certainly, a lot of this:
